QUESTIONS MOST OFTEN ASKED

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN BUSINESS?

Siekaup is a small family business that has been trading in contemporary German furniture for more than 25 years.

DO YOU SELL FURNITURE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES IN EUROPE?

No. The company was established by a German who wanted to raise the profile of contemporary German furniture in Australia. Her family background was in the production and retailing of modern furniture. It is for this reason that Siekaup has always remained a specialist in contemporary German furniture and only deals with the very best manufacturers.

DO YOU HAVE OTHER OUTLETS IN SYDNEY OR AUSTRALIA?

Although we have many clients throughout Australia our showroom is located only at  Shop 1/ 360 Pacific Highway  Crows Nest, Sydney

YOU ALWAYS DESCRIBE YOUR BEDS AS EUROPEAN SIZINGS. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE WITH AUSTRALIAN BEDS?

EUROPEAN BED sizing is as follows

King Single: 100cm wide x 200cm long.

Double:  120cm wide x 200cm long.

King Double:  140cm wide x 200cm long.

King:  183cm wide x 204cm long

WHAT IS A FLEXIBED BED?

We like to think of theFlexibed bed as a `lifestyle bed’ offering greater convenience and comfort to all that sleep in one.  A flexibed means that the slatted base can be moved at the head or legs, whether by motorised push button control or manually, thus providing ultimate comfort. In conjunction with the 7 zone latex mattress, again made in Germany, the flexibed bed offers you the instant comfort and support without the banks of pillowsetc. For the larger dual beds this means that there are two separate bases and mattresses each being individually controlled so as not to disturb your partner.

WHERE CAN I EASILY ATTAIN SHEETING FOR EUROPEAN BEDS?

Nowadays most good department stores have European size sheeting, though your selection may be limited.  Siekaup also sells fitted sheets for all European sizes.

WHAT MAKES YOUR SOFABEDS SO DIFFERENT TO OTHER SOFABEDS?

German made sofa beds, available  through Siekaup, offers comfortable, relaxing seating and  undisturbed sleep. Unlike those sofabeds regularly found in Australia, the sofa beds sold through Siekaup use the surface of the sofa as the surface of the bed. With a single easy manoeuvre, and the help of hidden rollers , the sofa easily unfurls into a bed and likewise folds back to being a sofa -one swift motion for each direction. It is all too easy!!

WHY DO YOU HAVE SO FEW PRICES ON YOUR PRODUCTS?

The answer to this is two fold. Firstly with such a vast array of finishes, some companies have up to 12 different price points for fabrics alone, it would be impossible to quote every option for a particular item.  Secondly, we base our pricings on the German catalogued price. This means that when you come to request a price in Australian dollars we take into consideration the monetary exchange rate of the day. With the volatility of the Australian dollar your quotation would be a true reflection of the actual cost to you.

WHY ARE YOUR PRICES HIGHER THAN OTHER RETAILERS?

We pride ourselves on representing some of the best contemporary furniture manufacturers in Germany. You can be guaranteed that the products you order are premium produced goods and amongst the very best Germany has to offer.  This obviously comes with a higher price. Even in Germany they are not inexpensive. In saying this we at Siekaup use the German price lists and international exchange rates in determining the prices of our products.

WHY DOES IT TAKE SO LONG AFTER ORDERING FOR DELIVERY?

On the whole all the products sold through Siekaup are made as specific orders. With the huge range of customising options available it would be impossible both for us and indeed,  the German manufacturers we represent, to keep stock of their entire range. As these are international companies all orders are worked on using the principle of ‘first in first served’. Any item that is custom made, even here in Australia, will take up to ten weeks to manufacture.  This too is the case for European manufactured furniture though the difference is in shipping the merchandise from Europe, which takes some six/ eight weeks, where as items manufactured in Australia, hopefully, take only a week to deliver.

DO YOU HAVE A SAMPLE OF ALL YOUR PRODUCTS ON THE SHOWROOM FLOOR?

Unfortunately not. If you look through the websites of the different German manufacturers we represent, there are hundreds of different pieces for each company. Likewise for each product there is any number of variant sizes, upholsteries and finishes. Itwould be near on impossible to have any single company’s range in its entirety on one showroom floor. This is especially so as we are only a small family business. We do however try to offer a sample or two from each of the companies we represent so that you can at least, see the craftsmanship, quality of the materials used and experience the comfort, practicality and brilliance of the design for yourself.

DO YOU HAVE A HOME VISIT SERVICE?

Yes we do. We believe a home visit is essential especially when cabinetry is being considered.  We first request an initial meeting in the showroom  to discuss what you have in mind and what is actually available. After this and you wish to proceed further a home visit can be  arranged at a time that suits you. There is no charge for this service. Unfortunately this service is limited to the Sydney area.

WHO INSTALLS MY ORDER AND DOES THAT COST EXTRA?

Within Sydney and its surrounds Siekaup experts will deliver and install your furniture. When your purchases have arrived from Germany we will phone or email you and organise a date for delivery and installation.  This is all part of the Siekaup service and is included in the initial quotation.  Should deliveries be further afield we can organise for delivery, which is charged at cost price, and for a recommended installer to visit.
